There are certain positons, like Head waiter, Dining Room Manager, which are not accessible from outside candidates, as they are mostly filled internally. Nevertheless, please always ask our colleagues for available management positions!

Dining room section:

Assistant waiter:

Tasks/promotion path: they are assigned to work in the “self service” restaurant of the ship for breakfast and lunch, and they work for dinner always in the Dining room. At some companies they might be assigned to work in the “staff-officers’s mess” or in the room service (Carnival Cruise Lines). Assistant waiters during dinner service helping the waiters by serving/cleaning the dishes, offering bread, water, salad dressing to the guests, serving wines. Assistant waiters and waiters working together as a team, looking after the same guests every meal of the cruise.This is why they’ll tip You at the end of the cruise-promotion path to Waiter position

  • Job requirements: companies’s requirements may vary from cruiseline to cruiseline, the most important thing is what they always look for in candidates are: advanced level of english, motivation, enthusiasm, personality. Some cruiselines go for the experienve as well
  • Salary: with Carnival Cruise Lines it is fix 1120$/month+TIP (average 150-200$/month), with other companies it is 50-70$/month basic+TIPs (suggested by the cruiseline on the basis of per person per day)- average of 1700-3000$/month. With Royal Caribbean the suggested TIP is 2$/person/day, with Disney it is 3$/person/day- promotion path to Waiter
    It is very easy to calculate, here is an example: once You have a station of 20 guests/seating, it is 40 guests altogether.
    If we are talking about a 7 days cruise, your average earning will be : 20X2(two seatings)X2X7= 560$ (average/week). These are only estimation, everything depends on your performance (service) provided to the guests

Waiter:
Currently waiter positions are not really wanted by the cruiselines, as due to recession noone leaves the companies from this (”well paid”) position.

  • The waiter is responsible for his station, and supervising the assistant waiter. His/her responsibility to make recommendations from the daily menu, taking order from the guests, answering any questions regarding the menu. Serving food, taking order for the wines. It is very important for the waiter to know every items of the menus (breakfast, lunch and dinner),  be fully aware of the ingredients of the dishes.
  • Ship experience as a waiter with other cruiselines
  • Basic salary of 50-70$/month+TIPs, suggested TIP - Royal/Celebrity/Azamara: 3,5$/guest/day; Carnival Team Headwaiter: 3,5$guest/day; Disney Cruise Lines’s waiter: 4$/guest/day- promotion path to Head Waiter
  • 6-8 months

Assistant Quick Service Manager (Disney Cruise Line):

  • AQSM is responsible for the operations of all the messes ( Crew, staff, officer’s ) mess, and might be assigned to the ships’s self service restaurant
  • Ship experience in any similar role, or experience in a 4-5* hotel working in a  high volume operation
  • Fix 2500-2700$+BONUS (USPH) if applicable, promotion path to Quick Service Manager
  • 4 months on/2 months off

Barserver:

  • Responsible for serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to passengers in lounges, bars and on decks
  • Some bar service experience and good English Language skills required, selling ability is a MUST
  • Salary range: 1200- 2500$ per month, depending on your sales, prmotion path to Bartender
  • 6-8 months

Bartender:

  • Responsible for prepairing and serving alcoholic beverages to passengers in bars, lounges and on decks. Supervising the assigned bar operation, looking after the barservers
  • Strong bar experience (former ship experience in the same position) and very good English Language skills required
  • Salary range: 1700- 3000 $ per month, depending on gratuities from passengers-promotion path to Head Bartender position
  • 6-8 months

RD Cascades WineSommelier:

  • Responsible for wine service, recommends the appropriate wine to the given meal, organizing wine tastings on board
  • Experience in and very good knowledge of wines is required, along with excellent English communication skills, being fully aware of the world’s leading wine producing countries
  • Earnings: 2500- 4000$ per month, depending on sales


CULINARY (GALLEY / KITCHEN):

Galley Utility:

Cleaning, general maintenance as directed by the Asst. Cook – entry level position, no experience required. Basic English Language skills required.

Salary range: $534 per month. Possibilities for promotion to Snack Attendant.

Cook Trainee:

Food preparation and cooking responsibilities as directed by the Asst. Cook – prior hotel / restaurant experience, culinary school education required

Fair English Language skills required

Salary range: $636 per month. Possibilities for promotion to Cook Assistant.

Cook Assistant (Commis):

Food preparation and cooking responsibilities as directed by the Chef de Partie – hotel or restaurant food preparation and cooking experience required. Fair English Language skills , culinary school education require

Salary range: $755-1300 per month. Possibilities for promotion to CDP

Chef De Partie:

Prepares and produced gourmet cuisine and sauces. Manages food displays on buffets and in restaurants

Ffour to five years in subordinate position on board and / or hotel and restaurant experience required. Good English Language skills required. Culinary school education needed.

Salary: $1700 per month.

Possibilities for promotion to Sous Chef / Working Chef-responsible for the day to day operations of the galley staff, assisting the Executive Chef with the food planning, preparation and quality control – four to five years in subordinate position on board and / or hotel chef experience required. Fluent English Language skills required. Culinary school education is a must.

Salary range: $2400-2720 per month. Possibilities for promotion to Executive Chef.

Executive Chef-responsible for the entire galley staff, food planning, food cost, quality control – eight to ten years in subordinate position on board and / or hotel and restaurant experience required. Good English Language skills required. Culinary school education required.

Salary range: $4000-5200 per month, depending on the cruise line
